Our Approach

The Japanese head spa is considered a popular, must-do wellness ritual in Japan. Rooted in relaxation and scalp health. I am excited to introduce this experience to our local community, so you no longer need to travel across the world to enjoy this authentic and deeply rejuvenating treatment.

My private one-on-one oasis is hidden inside Salt and Light Studio in the heart of Damascus, Oregon. Step inside my oasis and you will be transported to a tranquil sanctuary. Once you're settled into the plush, luxury head spa chair, it will slowly recline, allowing your head and neck to rest perfectly in a soft leather cushion. Ergonomically designed, the chair cradles your body, providing complete comfort as you begin your journey into deep relaxation.

You will be draped with a soft blanket and cozy socks to wear and also keep to take home. A gentle warm micro mist will keep you warm and relaxed through out your treatment.  The warm mist will open your hair follicles and loosen build up from the scalp. An aroma oil creates a soothing lather on your scalp, while expert hands and fingers work through your pressure points to loosen muscle tension.

The gentle sound of flowing water mimics a soft waterfall in your ear, creating a peaceful escape from the outside world. Warm water cascades along your hairline, while the warmth of hot towels melts away tension.  The final relaxation arrives with a "head soak" which is called the Toshinyoku; essentially an onsen bath for your scalp. After the treatment, with a simple push of a button, the chair will gently return you to an upright, sitting position.

You will leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!

Meet the founder of Mizu Head Spa

Thank you for taking the time to view my services and webpage. My name is Diane and I will be your head spa therapist. I am a licensed Cosmetologist and a graduate from Aveda Institute Portland. I am also trained and certified in the authentic Yume Japanese head spa technique, with training rooted directly in Japan.

In 2023, I developed a deep interest in the art of the Japanese head spa. Wanting to provide the most authentic experience for my guests, I decided to go straight to the source -- Japan.  With extensive research and advanced training to fully understand and honor this beautiful tradition.

While in Japan, I had the honor of training with Akemi Watanabe, she is one of the top dry head spa educators in Japan.  Under her guidance, I learned advanced scalp massage techniques focusing on precision, pressure points, and deep relaxation. I also had the chance to experience several head spas, each one so deeply relaxing that I found myself drifting off to sleep. Beyond relaxation, I felt a true sense of stress relief and an overall reset for both mind and body.

That experience confirmed my passion and commitment to bringing this same level of authenticity, tranquility, and transformation to my own guests.
